The Garmin Nuvi 680 moves a step ahead of others by adding dynamic content from MSN ® Direct. One can receive step by step directions while staying updated with information on local weather, traffic, etc. Nüvi 680, a sleek multi-tasking Personal Travel Assistant, uses the included receiver and free trial service of MSN Direct, through which one can check the weather, avoid traffic backups, compare local gas prices and check movie times and locations while traveling.

Like Nuvi 660, nüvi 680 also has a super-bright 4.3" diagonal widescreen display for improved map viewing, hands-free calling and FM transmitter, but moves much ahead of its earlier versions by adding dynamic content from MSN® Direct. It has preloaded maps and travel kit, like preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more.
One can navigate with ease by simply touching the sunlight-readable color screen to enter a destination. Nüvi immediately takes one there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. It even announces the name of exits and streets so one can easily keep ones eyes on the road. It also accepts custom points of interest, such as school zones and safety cameras and lets one set proximity alerts to warn of upcoming points of interest.
Along with features like MP3 playback, FM modulator, a world clock, calculator, currency/measurement converter, preloaded City Navigator North America and reference tool options like Garmin Travel Guide, Language Guide and Savers Guide. Nüvi 680 also has new features for which upgrades are available for older models.
Make Hands-free Calls
This pocket sized GPS receiver has hands-free Bluetooth® wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker, so one can pair it with one's compatible Bluetooth phone and then talk hands-free while staying focused on the road.. To make calls, one needs to just "dial" numbers with the touch screen keypad and to answer calls one can tap nüvi's screen and speak directly into its microphone.

Apart from navigation, Nüvi 680 includes many “must have” entertainment and travel tools including an MP3 player, audio book player (subscription to Audible.com required), JPEG picture viewer, currency converters and more. With nüvi 680's wireless FM transmitter, one can hear audio, including voice prompts, MP3s and audio books, through the vehicle's stereo. Another advantageous feature is that it also comes with Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature, and configurable vehicle icons that let one select car-shaped graphics to show ones location on the map. Optional software on plug-and-play SD cards for language translation, detailed travel guide and savings program allows one to customize the nüvi for one's travel needs.
But like most USB Mass Storage devices, this product is not compatible with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT or Windows Me.
